Hey guys, Happy Valentines day from a Galaxy far way. (NO not that one.) The Galaxy Carlos is currently in is far from his beloved Christer Echo. So today, he letting his imagination and his good hand do it's best to simulate the love of his beloved alien. Hopefully your loves are not so out of reach. FallenAngel drew this super cute picture below. It was great to see him take on these tow again and so quickly too. I wasn't out of my flu when I contact him about doing this piece a little over a day ago! Dude is the flash. Christers hair is super sweet. FallenAngel and I wish you all the best this holiday. I usually have scans from Valentines I buy, but this year with the Canadian dollar continuing to tank, that's not happening. I do have some Flintstones Kids ones I could post, but they are not particularly great. (Comment if you want me to dig those up.) I did find these really sweet old school anime Valentines online. Of course they are fan made. I also found a few Splatoon ones as well!

Yeah I went there! Come on, you all knew this was coming right? XD As I mentioned I am really getting back into this series. I was going to commission the great artist Huulli originally to do a Disney themed image, when a friend prompted me to work my imagination a little harder and present him with something a little more original. So I thought why not request a male version of Lum? Though, he really is more then that. By selecting various aspects of Lums many outfits, Huulli and I have come up with what I would call Lums brother. (Huullii as you can see had a great time with the costume and got really creative with it.) I suggested things like a square chin and some facial hair. Asked him to please work in the bangs and the long hair, but make it a little more manly. Instead of going for a twink body, Huulli made him really strong and tough looking. He turned out to be a bad ass. He didn't make him super huge, but instead made a frame that is comparable to Lums, only that much bigger, with well toned muscles. He boasts strong powerful legs, a well formed chest and a delightful six pack.
What I think is great is how scruffy and manly looking in comparison to Lum he is. He's got a sort of rock star look to him. You know this guy doesn't care that his undies are too small to contain the thick uncut dick Hullii created for him. His untended armpit, pubic and facial hair give him a nice rebellious, devil may care appearance. His horns being longer then Lums also add to this wonderfully. Certainly Huulli has provided more then I originally envisioned for him! So I decided upon seeing it that this guy needs more credit then just doing a gender bender. He has indeed created a whole new character that would fit very well into the world of Urusei Yatsura! One look at him and I say he would be Lums older, very protective brother. One of the guys, who probably would have a strong brotherly affection for Ataru. Getting the young man into dangerous adventures he would have no interest in would be a staple of each visit. Maybe his name would be Mul! XD Enjoy guys and girls.
I believe I was Huulli first commissioner, so I guess it is only fair to review him for others. Communication was very good. I would send an e-mail and get a response faster then I could respond back to him at times. :) Payment was up front, but Huulli worked very fast and he had this done in less then a weeks time. He sent me the sketches of some poses and we openly talked about aspects that would be cool to add to him. From there he sent me the final and asked if any changes were needed and what little touches that needed applying, were done in less then an hour. So I can highly recommend this budding young artist. If you like Disney, Street Fighter, or DC's Superboy you would do yourself a major service to take a look at his blog and Deviantart pages below. :) Oh, that Eric... XD
How long has it been? Like 20 years right? My gosh, Ranma and Lum were 2 of the first animes I fell in love with. For some reason I knew about Lum for a very long time before she ever made it to these shores. (I had a lot of Asian friends growing up.) I found the little promo video with Ranma, Inuyasha and Lum on Youtube some time ago. All the information regarding it stated that the anime was created to promote an event and nothing more was in production. Once again the school ground that is the internet was wrong and three new OVAs appeared. There is also a brand new Ranma 1/2 episode as well! They are both way too funny, show casing the best of both cartoons. (And putting to shame a lot of todays anime in the process.) It was so great to hear Ataru, Lum and the gang bantering at each other once again. Sadly I can't find a decent fansub anywhere. The only one I found above from Youtube uses the text bubble technique. Much like playing Enslaved Journey to the West, a lot of the dialog appears too soon, or too late, or not at all. To be honest, the guy did a fairly admirable job. If anyone knows of any official subs, or better fan subs please let me know. :)
When ever I see stuff like this I like to stroll on over to E-bay and see what the sellers have to temp my nostalgic urges. Let's take a look at what I found. :P
This is a KAIYODO 6 inch figure. It's super cute and affordable. I almost bought it. Love how the person taking the pictures got all this great pervy angle shot! XD The description says she can sit on top of a water bottle...um..okay...not sure why I would want to put her there, but certainly an interesting feature.
This is a Figma Lum figure. Despite it's many articulations and accessories, I just don't like it much.
Now if I had about $100 to blow I would purchase this wonderful figure of Lum and Ten together. This is just awesome!
This was the nicest item I found and pretty affordable too. It's a note book probably from the late 80s. This classy art of Lum was done by the same artist that worked on much of the merchandise for Ranma 1/2 as well. (Thanks Devilman!) This style and seeing all that bad English really takes me back! Really gives you that warm feeling of those days of youth long gone, ya know? I didn't purchase this as yet.
